I have lost faith
It's not every day that a "clergyman " (what an ugly term) admits to having lost his faith. After the tragic death of a friend's young child, Daniel decides to broaden his horizons and visit several Native American reservations in the United States and Canada. The encounters and discoveries he makes there lead him to feel ashamed of the Christianity he professed for over twenty years. He realizes that it condoned the unjust appropriation of territories where Native Americans had lived for centuries, as well as horrific massacres, and that it participated in forced cultural and religious assimilation. This book takes the reader beyond personal testimony, into a critical re-examination of history, the Western worldview, and Christianity. The author denounces, without mincing words, human and religious failings, even those occurring today, which he does not hesitate to call offenses against the Creator. His journey is surprising and thought-provoking in more ways than one. Daniel has clearly lost faith in a religious institution whose expression of faith does not represent the Creator of the universe or the values taught by his Messenger.
